We sometimes dream of living the life of simplicity that dogs seem to have. Play. Love. Sleep. Protect.

Yet dogs grow old, just as we do. As they age, they play less, love and sleep more, and protect in whatever way they are able.

I wonder…Do they lament the days gone by when they were more able to move their legs swiftly and bound about with joyful abandon?

Do they reach a point where they recognize there are more days behind them than there are ahead?

Or do they take each day, one at a time, and simply live with what they now have here in the present?

I suspect it is the latter. And I suspect that we could learn some new tricks from a dog’s simple approach to life.

I support Friends of Stark Pound in Stark County, OH, who has many dogs waiting for homes. There are many more rescue organizations across the world doing good work to help animals in need.  We can all “Be the Change” for animals in need simply by supporting and helping their efforts.
