We sometimes dream of living the life of simplicity that dogs seem to have. Play. Love. Sleep. Protect.

Yet dogs grow old, just as we do. As they age, they play less, love and sleep more, and protect in whatever way they are able.

I wonder…Do they lament the days gone by when they were more able to move their legs swiftly and bound about with joyful abandon?

Do they reach a point where they recognize there are more days behind them than there are ahead?

Or do they take each day, one at a time, and simply live with what they now have here in the present?

I suspect it is the latter. And I suspect that we could learn some new tricks from a dog’s simple approach to life.

"Brew on the Beach"

Brewskie Butt and I are going to make a road trip to Cleveland this Friday for the Third Friday arts event at the 78th Street Studios. Well, OK, the Brew himself is not going, but his image on various artworks will be.

We have First Fridays here in Canton, and in Cleveland, they have Third Fridays. The 78th Street Studios rent out temporary space for the monthly event, so the Creative Ohio Gallery (for which I am the Director) are going to make a visit this month. If it works well, we just might make it a regular thing!

You will also be able to see artworks by Creative Ohio artists Russ Hench, Laurie Grace Fife-Harbert, Sylvia Shanahan, and others.

"Peter Cottontail" Drawing by BZTAT

When I was a child living in the rural outskirts of Kansas City, MO, we once rescued a nest of baby rabbits. I do not recall what happened to the mother rabbit. I do recall my mother feeding the babies with an eye dropper. Only one survived. Of course we called him Peter Cottontail. We released him back to the wild when he was old enough, and thereafter, we screamed with glee each time we saw a rabbit, “There’s Peter Cottontail!!!”

This a smaller drawing than I usually draw. It is approximately 3″ x 5″ and matted for a 5″ x 7″ frame. I decided for the month of May, I am going to draw some miniature drawings and post them for auction.
